by Andrea Although nowadays there never seems to be any kind of giveaway with our fast food, back in the 80’s drinking glass giveaways were definitely the popular promotional tool!  Here’s some neat ones from eBay:   Vintage 1983 McDonalds Camp Snoopy “Morning People Are Hard To Love” Glass These Camp Snoopy glasses from 1983 are really cute!  And I gotta agree, morning people can be hard to love!   Vintage 1984 Los Angeles Olympics McDonalds Glass Coffee Mug 8 oz Golden Arches I love Olympic collectibles,...

by Andrea Although I am usually the writer who brings you the sweet stuff here at I Ate The 80’s, I gotta admit I am a bit sugared out.  I am still working on leftover Halloween candy, so the prospect of cooking something sweet was not appealing.  However, I felt that cornbread would be the perfect compliment to last night’s supper, so I thought I could find a microwave cornbread recipe in my trusty Panasonic Microwave Cookbook. However, no cornbread recipe was to be found there, just directions on cooking cornbread from a mix. ...

Today we have a very easy, layered gelatin dessert! This is Tangy Layered Dessert!   Actually, as insane as this sounds, this is the first time I have ever done this quick-set method with the ice cubes. Which is NUTS because I’ve made HUNDREDS of gelatin dishes for my blogs. I was surprised that this actually does work. In no time at all, the gelatin was ready for the pineapple. I had doubts about what sour cream and gelatin tasted like together, but it didn’t look half bad. So pretty! I wanted to make it tilted, like the recipe...

by Andrea I must admit, I am definitely a fan of the pumpkin spice stuff that comes out every year in the fall, and it gets me hankering for even more pumpkin.  So, when Ruth sent me this recipe, I knew it would fit the bill for my pumpkin spice cravings!   Ingredients assembled and ready to go!  Note: I only used a small portion of this gigantic can of pumpkin.  Not pictured, flour and sugar as my canisters do not like to leave their home on the counter, and baking soda, cause I forgot.  I also decided to do half chocolate and...

By RetroRuth This week we are having fun with yogurt and marshmallow crème! These are Chocolate Marshmallow Pops!     This recipe came from a cute little Borden booklet called Swiss Recipes Using Borden Lite-Line Yogurt from 1983. I have to admit that I don’t know if a chocolate marshmallow pop is really a Swiss Recipe, but it’s fun so we will just roll with it. As you can see, I was a little too lazy to use my blender, and I just whisked everything together. Which is why I ended up with little marshmallow bits floating around...
